About The Artist
Aicey Zaro
born in Ayr, North Queensland Australia. His mother is an Aboriginal descendant of the Birrigubba Clan of the Traditional people of the Burdekin area, North Queensland. His father is from Murray Island (Mer) in the Torres Straits, which is the northern-most part of Queensland situated between the tip of the Cape York Peninsula, Australia and Papua New Guinea.Aicey developed a very recognizable style while attending an art course at the Burdekin Institute of TAFE ,Home Hill (1999-2004) . Aicey has always loved to draw as a child his large family never had the luxury of having a TV , he would doodle cartoon characters and other drawings to pass the time away. As he grew his art talents also improved, but at High School Aicey found art class a place of fun more then learning. Ironically his Art teacher now calls on Aicey to hold Art workshops where he once was ejected from class for disruption. With his aboriginal and islander heritage Aicey has created a diverse range of art pieces in various media, including hand-painted silks, acrylic painting, hand-painted ceramics, and hand-painted jewellery. His artworks reflect his love for the flora and fauna of the land and sea of
Tropical North, Queensland Australia.
Aicey is well-known in his local community and has commissioned murals displayed prominently around the Burdekin district.
His works have been sold to many tourists visiting his gallery from around the world like Japan, Italy, Spain, England,
Germany and Sweden, and
also wholesale products around Australia and the Torres Straits.
